What is a refurbished computer?

Refurbished computers mean a Microsoft Registered Refurbisher has erased all data, sanitized and loaded each machine with new, upgraded Microsoft software and put it through rigorous testing. And every computer comes with a 90 day replacement warranty.

Refurbished computers are typically business computers that were bought new and used for a couple of years by large corporations. Business computers are higher quality than consumer computers you can buy in a retail store. With better components, they provide better performance and reliability. And their rugged construction enables them to withstand multiple users and extended daily use.

The iFoster refurbished computers sold here are Class A refurbished computers. This means they should look no more than slightly used and work faultlessly. These computers are the same ones the iFoster Team uses daily, to update and revamp our website, to write emails and newsletters, to create our programs and to take on the road the meetings, conferences and the occasional "working on the beach".

CDI and their national Microsoft Refurbisher Program

iFoster has partnered with CDI to source, refurbish and deliver directly to you high quality business laptops, desktops and monitors. CDI will be fulfilling iFoster orders, shipping them directly to you, and handling any returns and replacements under the 90 day warranty.

It was important for iFoster to partner with a Microsoft Registered Refurbisher since only registered refurbishers can provide real Microsoft software. Just because a used computer has a Microsoft Certificate of Authenticity (the holographic sticker on the back of the computer) from the previous owner, it doesn’t mean that the system has a legal and genuine operating system. When you purchase a used computer, you must have a COA and the original equipment maker (Dell, HP, IBM etc.) distribution or system recovery disk for the operating system or a Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher disk. If you don’t – you are out of compliance with the Microsoft licensing agreement and you may have a pirated copy of the operating system.
